The community centre at 6141 Chebucto Rd has been a staple of the Halifax region for generations. The facility was recently rescued from demolition, and is presently undergoing major renovations since the bulk of the original building was constructed in the early 1950s, and certain parts may date back more than 100 years.
The new establishment (i.e., the Lebanese Culture and Festival Centre) features a gym and kitchen upstairs, and 10 classrooms downstairs which can be used by schools. Respected organizations or event coordinators that belong to the local or broader community are welcome. There is no bias with respect to race, sex, or religion, and stringent constraints are placed on facility users to likewise abide by that fundamental tenet. Groups from all walks of life have used the Centre for two generations.
